How-to add RSS feeds into Outlook
Things you will need:
- Outlook 2013/2016 on the desktop
- The link to the RSS feed that you want to subscribe to (http://tickets.daytonaweb.ca/RSS.ashx?type=news)
1. In outlook check to see if you already have a folder for RSS feeds that was created by default. It will be named 'RSS Feeds' and may have a number beside it as shown below:
*If you do not have this folder you can create a new one to house the RSS alerts by right clicking the base email account and selecting 'new folder'*
2. Rename the folder if you want to organize your RSS feeds based on their content by right clicking the folder in question and selecting 'Rename Folder'. For this guide we are adding Helpdesk news articles so I have named it as such:
3. Click File in the top left corner of outlook
4. Click 'Account Settings' to drop down a menu and then again select 'Account Settings'
5. Select the 'RSS Feeds' tab and then click the 'New..' button circled below
6. Copy and paste the RSS Feed link that you want to add and then select 'Add' (Tacada Helpdesk news link is below)
http://tickets.daytonaweb.ca/RSS.ashx?type=news
7. Before hitting OK make sure to name the Feed to match the content (highlighted example below), check the box that is circled below, and then click 'Change Folder' pointed below
8. Select the folder we edited before (or you can create a new one in this menu) and click ok
9. You should now have received at least one message welcoming you to the news RSS feed within that folder
10. Open the send/receive tab shown below and then choose Send/Receive groups -> Define Send/Receive Groups
11. Select 'Edit'
12. In your main account on the left make sure the folder we edited is checked in the sync settings
13. In RSS feeds make sure both of the following boxes are checked
You can now manually refresh the RSS feeds by hitting F9, and they should refresh automatically every 30 minutes
